Help At Your Door is excited to announce Chris Chambs, a Vice President of Finance at Allianz Life, has been appointed as our Board Chair, following the retirement of our previous leader, Tom Bailey. Chris has served on Help At Your Door’s Board of Directors for the past five years, including three years as Treasurer.
He discovered Help At Your Door through his work at Allianz Life – a longtime partner who has given our nonprofit both financial and volunteer support. Allianz Life is committed to a more equitable and financially secure Twin Cities and empowers employees to engage in causes they care about. Chris has worked at Allianz Life in Golden Valley for over 18 years. As Vice President of Finance, Chris focuses on corporate planning, transactions, and reporting. His time with the company also included two years working and living in Munich, Germany, an experience that has helped shape Chris’ worldview.
When asked why he joined Help At Your Door’s Board of Directors, he replied: “I felt a strong connection to the mission. My parents made it possible for my grandparents to maintain their independence and age at home by providing basic, yet critical, essentials. Help At Your Door’s services for older adults and people with disabilities help fulfill an important community need in a personal, friendly way.”
Chris and his daughter experienced the impact of our services firsthand this past holiday season shopping for food and delivering groceries to clients. He reflects,
“Volunteering time to ensure there is food on the table for those who helped build our communities is a great way to give back.”
Help At Your Door is grateful to Chris for volunteering his time and bringing his wealth of knowledge to our organization. Chris’ expertise in leadership, finance, and strategic planning are crucial as we continue to expand our services options. Chris lives with his wife and two children in the Twin Cities. He has an MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and an accounting degree from St. John’s University.
